Grand opening of the "Parcheggio Città Alta" garage in Bergamo

Bergamo, Italy – The "Parcheggio Città Alta" car park in Bergamo was opened at the beginning of May. The fifth Best in Parking location in Bergamo with 469 parking spaces is the key to the traffic concept of the historic city centre. 

The project's completion led to the implementation of a car-free design for the historic squares within the old town. Reserved parking spaces are available for residents along the stone walls in close proximity to their homes. Visitors can park in the new eight-storey car park. The central car park infrastructure in the old town was created under a park and covered with soil and lush vegetation. This has resulted in a reduction in traffic in this historic part of the city.

The two passenger lifts and the use of an existing, renovated connecting corridor through the hill allow visitors to reach the heart of the old town without steps and at ground level.

Bergamo is a city in Lombardy, located to the east of Milan. The "upper town", Città Alta, which is situated on a hill and surrounded by imposing city walls, was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2017. Best in Parking has been present in Bergamo since 1993 and has been working intensively with the city council to improve the traffic situation in the long term.
